Dr Gaylynne Carter
(PhD, MRes, MSc, BSc (Hons))

Gaylynne trained in archaeology in the UK both as an archaeological practitioner with Oxford Archaeology, Framework Archaeology and Archaeological Research Services University of Sheffield, and through academia at Rewley House (Oxford University) and the University of Sheffield. Through these experiences she developed specialist skills in environmental archaeology and paleo-ecology.

Whilst in the UK, Gaylynne was fortunate to work on an array of diverse and interesting sites including: a rare Neolithic Long-house at WhiteHorse Stone (Kent); a previously unrecognized Late Bronze Age - Early Iron Age Hillfort at Taplow (Berkshire); a Mesolithic trackway at Ebbsfleet, Kent; a Roman cemetery at Pepperhill, Northfleet East. Kent; and several multi-period (Bronze Age - post-Medieval) rural landscapes.

Many of these sites were part of large infra-structure projects including the Channel Tunnel Rail Link, and the airport expansions of Gatwick, Stansted and Heathrow.

More recently Gaylynne has worked for WSP-Opus as an archaeological consultant based in the Hawke’s Bay and East Coast area. During this time she has assisted an array of clients including local government, forestry, developers and private individuals navigate the archaeological authority process.
